Why Follow Our Soles?

We are Kim and Vinny, two semi-normal people who left our Corporate America jobs to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.  Living in Los Angeles, Kim was the Director of Partnership Sales at AEG Worldwide and Vinny was the Director of Finance at Playboy Enterprises. We have been together for five years so the natural next step was to get married, buy a house and have kids. However, we walk to the beat of our own drum and decided to use our savings to explore the world instead. Some might think we are crazy but we couldn’t be happier to begin such an exciting new chapter.

This journey started on January 13, 2016. We moved out of our house, put our entire lives into a POD, sold our cars, and packed whatever we could into carry-on backpacks. Everything about this is so out of our element, but that’s what will make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Being exposed to new languages, new cultures, new religions, new lifestyles and best of all, learning new things about ourselves and each other.

The casual plan is to visit thirteen countries over six months starting in India and eventually ending in Japan (with Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and China in between). The most thrilling part, however, is that we have a one-way ticket booked so we will just wait and see where the wind takes us. Anything and everything is possible.

Our goal is make you laugh, cry, dance, cringe and sing while reading our stories. We followed our hearts and we hope you will follow our soles.

  4. Hi Kim and Vinny,
I keep getting more and more impressed with your power of observation and reflection, then sharing it all for us through words and photos. What you have shared so far is incredibly impressive.

All the people–young and old, animals from goats to monkeys to a green parrot, temples, assortments of food, brightly colored fashions, baskets, adoration arrangements, Granny’s and her family and the depiction of your ride in the fog to the city where the Taj Mahal resides were all so engaging. The ride in the fog was scary as heck I’m sure. I’m glad the sun came out in the afternoon and that your hotel had a romantic view of the taj. Well, keep up with this unbelievable journey! Much love to you and Vinny!

    1. Thanks, Bern!! It really helps to observe and explore during the day then reflect at night. Your mind is so stimulated when you are in the moment that it’s hard to appreciate what you are experiencing so writing for me has been a sense of therapy. I’m glad you are enjoying the journey with us 🙂
